Overmountain Victory Commemoration

In September of 1780, militia from North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia marched “over the mountains” to defeat British Major Patrick Ferguson’s forces at the Battle of Kings Mountain. This victory turned the tide of the American Revolution in the patriot’s favor.
